ABSTRACT:
Cross tabulations of census of data show that, in areas receiving relatively reliable moisture, there is a clear tendency for grain producers with higher levels of education to use less summerfallow and to use more fertilizer and chemicals. Analysis of individual farm data, however, is unlikely to reveal a noteworthy relation between educational attainment and summerfallow usage. Farming experience, natural intelligence, extension information, advice from neighbors and family members, and field of educational specialization are some factors that detract from a strong relation.
