THIS issue contains several papers presented at SWCS's recent 46th annual meeting in Lexington, Kentucky. Many of those in attendance reported that it was one of the finest annual meetings held in a number of years. The facilities were good; the program was excellent; and the special events, particularly the family night, were outstanding. The nearly 800 registrants and about 1,400 in attendance had an opportunity not only to enjoy themselves but increase their knowledge and renew their commitment to the conservation of our soil, water, and related natural resources as well. I encourage you to read the articles in this issue based on presentations made at the meeting. For those of you who wish to have a further glimpse of what went on, we have video tapes available of all the plenary sessions for a modest fee.

Next year's annual meeting will be held in Baltimore, Maryland, August 9-12, 1992, in conjunction with the American Agricultural Economics Association (AAEA).
