ABSTRACT:
In this paper, a method of estimating the length and maximum depth of sediment deposition on an alluvial fan during a flood event is proposed-specifically when the longitudinal slope of the conveyance channel changes from steep to mild. This addresses a critical and current problem in designing facilities to mitigate flood damage on alluvial fans in arid and semi-arid environments.
