This time of year I find myself looking ahead. It's a new calendar year and the past holidays provided a chance to reflect on what this new year looks like.
I'm happy to say there is a lot to look forward to in 2006. One, is the fact we are bringing on board a full-time Professional Development Director. We tried last fall to fill this position, but our search didn't turn up the right candidate. This is a critical position and we are determined to find the right person to build an ongoing and self-supporting professional development program. We are starting the search again now. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
The year 2006 should also mark another step ahead in our member services technology. We should have our online store for our expanding book list and other items up and running early this year. That will be followed soon by our more ambitious project—moving our member database online. This will make interaction with Headquarters much easier and help improve the quality and speed of our basic member services.
