Publication of high-quality research in the Journal of Soil and Water Conservation is made possible by hundreds of referees who volunteer their time and expertise each year to provide valuable insight and recommendations to authors. Our peer review process is handled through the JSWC Editorial Manager system by an international team of associate editors and reviewers.
If you are interested in serving as a JSWC reviewer, please create an account and profile in the JSWC Editorial Manager site. Adding specific personal classifications or areas of interest will assist editors in assigning you relevant manuscripts. If selected by an associate editor, you will receive an email link requesting a review.
A solid review will provide an impartial, honest, and constructive assessment of the value of the work based upon scholarly merits and scientific contribution. Consideration should include the research's significance, methods, data, references, and quality. Additional information about reviewer ethics and responsibilities can be found in the JSWC Editorial Policy.
Meeting review deadlines is important for keeping manuscripts on track. If, however, you are unable to meet a deadline, please contact journal staff, jody.thompson@swcs.org, immediately to provide an update. An extension may or may not be granted.
