ABSTRACT:
In a study of tillage and double cropping in northwestern Louisiana, improved seedling emergence was obtained when wheat straw was burned prior to seeding if irrigation was not used. Soybean yields increased significantly in 2 of 3 years when rows were narrowed from 102 centimeters (40 inches) to 51 centimeters (20 inches). Disking wheat stubble prior to planting did not influence seedling emergence or soybean yield.
