The Thaler ranch and farm began as a homestead claimed by Dennis Thaler's great-great uncle, Joe Matje, a Hungarian immigrant. Today' the Thalers' combination farm and ranch is a cow/calf-yearling operation. The Thalers also raise small grains, wheat, oats, millet, and alfalfa-grass hay. The unit is located west of LaGrange, Wyoming, in Goshen County, in the southeastern corner of the state.
The Thaler family long ago realized that it was important to improve the land to maximize their operations in order to prosper and grow and also to protect the natural resources of the land.
Thaler Land and Livestock is a current or a past participant in the Great Plains Conservation Program, Environmental Quality Incentives Program, Conservation Reserve Program, Wyoming Wildlife Habitat Management plan, and the Wyoming Forestry Stewardship Incentives Program.
“Dennis has always been proactive to implement all conservation practices to maintain or improve all resources of their operation,” said Bob Baumgartner, retired USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) district conservationist. “The Thalers are a true friend to conservation.”
