AB  - The off-site costs of wind erosion are a function of the level of erosion, the value of property at risk, and attitudes toward cleaning blown dust. These costs increase at a decreasing rate with the level of erosion. Consequently, targeting conservation resources to areas with the highest levels of erosion likely is economically inefficient. Moreover, relatively low levels of erosion control likely are worse than no control at all.
