Research findings revealed that a minority of farmers in the watershed were aware of the organization or its programs. Of those who indicated they were aware of the conservation group and its programs, a minority believed that the organization was effective in motivating watershed farmers to adopt soil and water protection practices. Discriminant analysis revealed that the variables used to predict awareness of the conservation organization were not useful for predictive purposes. The implications of the study findings are discussed in the context of future conservation efforts in the watershed. The inadequacies of using local information-education organizations, such as those implemented in the Darby Creek watershed, for conservation purposes are examined. ER -
