Berg, former chief of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Soil Conservation Service, a 40-year veteran of work in soil and water conservation, and a charter member and Fellow of SCSA, is now dedicating more of his time to advancing the science and art of good land use. On January 3 he assumed duties as SCSA's representative in Washington, D.C., where he will serve one day a week as a liaison between SCSA's headquarters office and the many conservation organizations and agencies in the nation's capital. SCSA has contracted with the American Farmland Trust to provide Mr. Berg with office space and limited clerical assistance.
