An economic analysis of fertilizer technology on the Gray Luvisol soils and a comparison of land values in the two soil zones showed that returns from adopting fertilizer technology have been capitalized into land values in the Gray Luvisol zone. Land in this zone is overpriced relative to that in the Thick Black soil zone. Continuation of this situation poses serious soil management problems in the Gray Luvisol zone.
