AB  - The line transect method of measuring crop residue cover was tested twice in the field for variation in results obtained by different people. By the second test, observers attained a high degree of precision in their results. Variation in field residue cover exceeded variation among observers. Consequently, to obtain accurate results it is more important to have multiple measurements than it is to have multiple observers.
