An economic analysis of winter wheat production in eastern Nebraska, as influenced by a field windbreak, revealed a positive return to the producer. The yield response of winter wheat averaged 15% more under windbreak-sheltered conditions. Results indicated a 15-year payback period with a positive net present value.
