Electrical conductivity, the most commonly used indicator of corrosivity, was a poor index of corrosion in these systems. However, concentration of individual ions, particularly chloride, and the amount of CaCO3 precipitated upon evaporation of water in contact with the metal can be used to assess metal corrosivity. Application of the results and design changes in construction of corrugated, galvanized steel structures are discussed. ER -
