All Council members were in attendance. Council devoted a significant portion of the meeting to reviewing the preliminary results of the recent member survey. Nearly 50 percent of the 20 percent survey sample returned a completed questionnaire. One aspect of the survey that came through loud and clear was that members believe we need to move out on public information and education programs in the years ahead. They see such activity as the key to improving public support for soil and water conservation programs in this country. Another early conclusion is that the JSWC remains not only the most visible of SCSA's programs and services but also one that members rate high in quality and importance. Chapter meetings were given third place in importance, with these three programs significantly ahead of all others.
